introduction

Welcome to Online Training for Online Evangelists provided by the Internet Evangelism Coalition (IEC). The outline for this curriculum was designed by a task force from the IEC composed of Dick Wynn, Judy Gill, Mark Mittleburg, and Thomas Wright.

The online text was authored by Dr. Thomas Wright. It is designed for online training to help believers effectively share Jesus with other people who are online. This includes people encountered via e-mail, chat rooms, discussion boards, Instant Messaging, and every web page. The curriculum provides an outline for evangelicals to adapt and apply to their web pages. Its purpose is to help believers in Jesus Christ use the existing online evangelism approaches to become an online evangelist. The training outline is available at iec.gospelcom.net/otoe/outline.php. Other sites can adapt and provide online training as well.

In preparing to begin this course, it is important to understand the context of the Internet. Three assumptions may be made about people we encounter on the Internet:

1. Many are not and never have been involved in an evangelical church.

2. They are from every language, religion, and culture group and are engaged in diverse lifestyles.

3. There are some who were raised in an evangelical church who are now looking online for assurance and information.

This curriculum is self-taught. The training is designed for every age group of believers. A self-graded review is available at the end of each session.
The intent is for graduates from this course to be biblical, compassionate, contextual and intentional evangelists.

Each session requires about one hour if you follow each link and answer each question. Each session ends with a review of the material. When you finish a session and decide to come back later to complete the course, we recommend you keep track of your progress by marking the page you are on with your browser's "Add page to favorites" or "Bookmark" feature.

All Scripture references are in New King James Version unless otherwise noted. Other sites are referenced in accordance with the concept of copyright fair use for educational purposes.
