The Internet Evangelism Coalition (IEC) was born out of a consultation sponsored by the Billy Graham Center of Wheaton College (BGC) in April of 1997. The consultation, attended by more than 80 people representing a cross-section of leading church and parachurch ministries, voted to establish a committee to facilitate collaboration on initiatives where there was a strong sense of need or interest.

In April 1999, under the leadership of Dr. Sterling Huston, the Facilitation Committee for Internet Evangelism convened a successful conference. Following the conference, it was decided that a permanent organization was needed to support the network on an ongoing basis. Recognizing that it would take several years for the organization to become self-sustaining, the Committee asked the BGC to temporarily set up and manage an office to begin the process. The BGC will facilitate the Internet Evangelism Coalition for a three- to six-year period until it is established as a 501c3 organization or until other arrangements are made.

IEC's goals are:

(1) to promote Internet Evangelism: Inspiring strategic thinking and resource development to empower the Church for Internet Evangelism; and
(2) facilitate collaboration: Encouraging collaborative efforts and connecting partners and resources for Internet Evangelism.

The following NAE Statement of Faith is the doctrinal position of the IEC:

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Billy Graham Center of Wheaton College. The Billy Graham Center exists to "Stimulate Global Evangelism." These three words comprise a compelling and challenging yet clear agenda. The mission of the church is to "make disciples of all nations." Our passion is to stand with the church in this great commission.
